SlenderWonder is a medical weight loss programme that helps patients who struggle with being overweight or obesity lose weight. Only SlenderWonder accredited doctors are permitted to prescribe and distribute the programme.

The weight loss programme is based on treating low leptin levels and has three components:

  1. a low GI eating plan,
  2. supplements in the form of capsules and
  3. a series of injections.

The injections bring the leptin levels back into balance and help rid the body of "abnormal" fat in a safe and controlled way.

Leptin is a hormone that is secreted by fat cells in white adipose tissue and has been found to be a signal to the brain, thus having a primary influence on body weight.
During a person's lifetime, leptin levels drop. This drop may be accredited to the use of cortisone or the presence of progesterone and oestrogen. For this reason, some young girls are prone to obesity during puberty.

Women who are taking contraceptives, pregnant woman and those who have had hysterectomies, especially when it goes together with hormone replacement therapy, are also prone to lower levels of leptin.

Treating the symptoms and putting patients on a strict diet may work. However, if the leptin levels are not stabilised first, patients will put the weight back on once they start eating normal again. This is what makes the SlenderWonder programme different from other weight loss programmes.

Anyone. Those in need of weight loss, lowering of cholesterol levels, balancing of hormone levels, or even just trying to lose some weight. All ages are welcome to follow the SlenderWonder programme. It is a medically approved programme and is managed in conjunction with a medical doctor who gives the go-ahead at the start.
2What does the initial consultation involve?
Medical history is discussed and documented, goals are established, body stat is done, an explanation of programme and products and the treatment protocol is discussed; followed with medical doctor visit before the weight loss programme is started – optional blood tests can be done.
3Why is a medical doctor involved with this programme?
Prescription medication forms part of injection material used in this programme, and as this is the only medically approved programme in SA, it must be followed under medical supervision.
4How often must I see my consultant?
Every two weeks.
5What do the follow-up appointments entail?
Weighing, body stat, boost injection and treatment progress management.
6How long before I will see results?
Expected weight loss is 8 - 10kg's per month.
